NET Products and Services

NET is the only Company to offer solutions that are actually triple play (cable TV, broadband internet and telephony) in Brazil, and it seeks to improveits range of products and services, which was continued and consolidated in 2009. Moreover, it always seeks to bring forth the best technological solutions, coupled with a unique service to its customers.

NET's main products and services are:

NET is the largest cable TV operator in the Country, with about 141 video available channels – including open channels, films, series, sports, children programs, pay per view and other – and with 32 audio channels. Moreover, NET has expanded to offer differentiated services to its customers. As an example, in 2009, subscribers could chose from seven different plan options, each one with a specially assembled series of channels: Current Events, Entertainment, Style, Family, Total, Total HD and Total HDMAX.

Also in 2009, the highlight was the offering of channels in HDTV (HD), with 11 channels available to subscribers of this mode, in which category NET is also a leader in the Brazilian market. In this segment, the Company offers the HDMAX premium service, with equipment that allows the recording of digital programming received by subscribers, among other facilities.

As a result of its technological operational expansion, NET has expanded the offerings of the digital signal on cable television, thus allowing the interactivity use from subscribers' remote control.

Subscribers may also count on a variety of channels and "À La Carte" programs, which can be accessed by the pay per view system – available by remote control, internet or telemarketing – such as football, Big Brother Brazil, adult channels, movies, fights, games, world news, sports, HD channels and news.

The Company holds an extensive two-way cable high-tech net work to offer its customers the best quality internet access, mega speed and greater connection stability.

Subscribers could choose between five options of speed access: 200 Kbps, 500 Kbps, 3 Mbps, 6 Mbps and 12 Mbps. In some neighborhoods of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, in 2009 NET began to offer NET Virtua with 60 Mbps speed. The selected households will enable NET to assess the market potential and, if applicable, the extending of this offering to other regions.

In partnership with Embratel, NET offers the NET Fone via Embratel service through the same cable used by TV and internet broadband services. Subscribers can choose between two systems of access to voice, the NET Fone via Embratel Fale Simples, a choice for those who want a right economy package, or the NET Fone via Embratel Fale Muito, for those who want to talk more and pay less.

It is one of NET's fixed telephony service packages that includes fast internet, assembled on economy packages for the subscriber.

Offering triple play solutions, NET offers to its customers the NET Combo option, which allows for the choice of combos that include two or three products (NET cable TV, NET Virtua and NET Fone via Embratel), allowing for multiple arrangements, always at competitive prices.

In October 2009, NET launched in partnership with Turner Broadcasting System the Overcontrol campaign, aimed at decisively contributing to the serious problem faced by parents, which is the access by children to adult content, besides enabling the blocking of channels and programs that are considered inadequate. NET offered to its customers a free remote control to help parents monitor the programs their children watch on TV. The device is programmed to access only children channels, and it is customized with images of cartoon Ben 10 or Powerpuff Girls. The Company distributed 20,000 units of Overcontrol in 2009.

The history of cable TV began in 1948, in the United States. The cable was used only to serve small communities in the countryside, which could not receive conventional TV signals, or in locations where the images were poor. Conventional TV gradually began to reach the regions covered by small cable TV companies, which ended up requiring a competitive advantage to customers in order to remain in the market. The response was to offer more channels and broader programming, which coupled with the creation of satellite communication made the subscription TV viable.

In Brazil, the first TV cable distribution system was installed in 1976, in the city of São José dos Campos (São Paulo State).
