Brazil, Our Home

The place where we live is the most special of all. There, we look for shelter, we make plans, we have relationships, we grow.

Tractebel Energia’s home is Brazil. In a challenging year such as 2014, we got back onto the growth path. It was the year we returned to auctions and sold new energy for delivery starting in 2019. The power plants that will supply this will be built starting in 2015 and, still in 2014, the largest solar power plant in Brazil and two new wind power plants started to operate, while we started the works for yet another wind power farm and the expansion of a biomass plant.

Since 1998, the year we started operating in Brazil, Tractebel Energia’s generation capacity has grown 89%, reaching 7,027 MW by the end of 2014, equivalent approximately to 6% of total output in Brazil. Coupled with consistent, robust results, this expansion is the fruit of planning, competence and responsibility. We continue to be the largest private generation company in Brazil.

This Sustainability Report provides an account of Tractebel Energia’s operations in 2014, focused on the most relevant aspects according to our stakeholders and our Management, in addition to a brief history of our Company and our plans, in the country we chose and where we were welcomed to put down roots, create value, and grow.
