TECON VILA DO CONDE
Situated in the Amazon River Delta region, 96 kilometers from the manufacturing and commercial center of Belém in the State of Pará, Tecon Vila do Conde comprises the Vila do Conde Industrial and Port Complex. One of the special features of this terminal, acquired in 2008 by Santos Brasil, is its strategic position due to its proximity to international shipping routes and access to all continents, directly or via the concentrator ports of the Caribbean.
With an operating capacity of 250,000 TEU, Tecon Vila do Conde is the first public use container handling and storage terminal operated by the private sector in Pará and the only one in the region that has two port cranes on wheels (MHC) with 100-ton capacity and an operating capacity of 25 containers per hour. The terminal is also equipped with a refrigerated chamber for inspecting refrigerated cargoes, with doors to be attached simultaneously to up to four containers, representing a significant innovation for the port sector in the north of the country.
These special features are the result of investments made by Santos Brasil, which owns a 100% stake in the venture. Since it took control of the operation three years ago, the Company has already allocated around R$21.3 million in operational, technological and labor force training improvements. These investments have ensured the terminal's status as a self-sustainable venture, attracting new cargo profiles, which differentiates its positioning from the Company's other business units, focused essentially on container handling.
In 2011 alone, R$7.1 million was invested in the expansion of the yard, which gained more than 30,000 square meters; in the modernization of the port access system to ensure greater reliability and meet the most exacting port safety standards; the acquisition of scales and forklift trucks; the opening of two more entry and exit gates, as well as personnel training and qualification actions.
STRATEGIC LOCATION WITH PRIVILEGED ACCESS TO ALL CONTINENTS IS ONE OF THE TERMINAL`S COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES.

In this manner, Tecon Vila do Conde has gradually gained importance in the regional market, standing out for the variety of its services, flexibility, reliability, strategic location and commitment to the logistics chain of its users. The terminal already possesses the declaration issued by CONPORTOS (National Commission for Public Safety in Ports, Terminals and Navigable Ways) that follows an international code for the protection of vessels and port facilities.
Besides the terminal's expertise in container handling, Tecon Vila do Conde is increasingly specializing in general cargo that is typical of the region, such as large-scale machinery used in industrial and mining plants. Santos Brasil also intends to increase its handling of cabotage cargo, in order to take advantage of the region's great potential.
