VEHICLEs TERMINAL
Located on the left bank of the Port of Santos alongside Tecon Santos, the TEV (Vehicles Terminal) is one of the most modern vehicles import/export terminals in the world according to
leading automobile assembly plants with business in the Country.
With capacity to handle 300,000 cars a year, the terminal has a backside area of approximately 165,000 square meters, allocated to vehicles storage and a public quay of 310 meters, used for general cargo operations and occasionally for containers, using RoRo (roll-on roll-off) multi-purpose vessels.
Initiated in 2006, TEV operations were definitively incorporated by Santos Brasil by means of a public bid held in 2009. The acquisition of this business enabled the Company to diversify the range of services offered, ensuring specialized service for car and heavy vehicles manufacturers and strengthening its presence throughout this segment's entire logistics chain. Since then, Santos Brasil has promoted investment aimed for quality, productivity and efficiency in the provision of services. In 2011, the terminal adopted an online system that enables customers to schedule the arrival of vehicles without the need to be present at the TEV in order to release them. During the year, a wireless network, similar to those used at Tecon Santos with data collectors that ensure more effective and dynamic control over inventory operations, was also installed. Two new vehicles offloading ramps were built to increase terminal productivity.
These investments have enabled the terminal to absorb the increased volume in vehicles imports and exports registered in 2011. The TEV ended the year with 205,603 vehicles handled, a 33.3% increase over 2010 (154,000 vehicles handled).
