ANNUAL REPORT 2013

Eternit’s solid image and highly competitive structure are two of its key differentials, which are built every day by a team of 2,383 employees who enjoy work opportunities and conditions in keeping with best management practices. Attention to these aspects enables the Group to offer the market the best service in the industry, with the fastest delivery times, as part of its constant efforts to satisfy its customers.

Brand strength

A fixture in the minds of Brazilians for over seven decades, the Eternit brand is synonymous with quality among consumers in the construction industry and honors its history that stretches back seven decades. Its reputation is reinforced by open dialogue with stakeholders and transparent disclosure of information, which confer to the brand attributes such as seriousness, competence, credibility and trust. The owl mascot also helps convey the concepts of wisdom, safety and protection.

Intellectual property

Eternit believes a company is formed by people and the competencies and knowledge that they share. To help develop the personal and professional skills of its teams, Eternit encourages its employees to acquire greater qualification and manage their careers, and also offers opportunities to anyone willing to grow in step with the Company. These practices have been recognized year after year in the main rankings of the best companies to work for in Brazil.

Cost-benefit tradeoff

Fiber-cement made with chrysotile asbestos offers an excellent cost-benefit tradeoff. The roofing segment is one of the largest markets in Brazil’s construction industry, and fiber-cement roofing tiles and concrete roofing tiles generate annual demand of over 300 million square meters, which represents around 50% of this market. Eternit’s products are leaders in this market and combine quality and durability at affordable prices, which favors their acquisition by lower income groups.

Diversification

A strategic proposition of the Group, diversification is already a reality at Eternit, which in the last decade began to market metal roofing tiles, bathroom chinaware and toilet seats, metal bathroom fixtures and construction solutions, while also investing in the development of fiber-cement made from alternative fibers. Eternit has the most diversified product mix in the segment, with options ranging from economical to luxury.

This competitive advantage is also made possible by its efficient logistics processes, which is continually optimized.

New technologies

Through its market communication channels, Eternit is always synch with the latest technological and operational trends and adopts that procedures to capture productivity gains. In addition to the new technologies laboratory that already exists at the Colombo unit, the Company will soon be able to count on the new unit to research, develop and produce construction material inputs that is being built in Manaus, state of Amazonas.
