With its 72 years of company history, Eternit S.A. is the market leader in the roofing segment, and has operations in the following segments: bathroom chinaware, metal fittings for kitchens and bathrooms and components for construction systems. The strategic location of its manufacturing plants, its efficient logistics and distribution channels composed of more than 16,000 retail outlets, provides it with the flexibility to be able to serve its customers in any part of Brazil. As a traditional manufacturer of fiber-cement products containing chrysotile mineral (the product with the best value for money in the market), the Company provides the lower income classes with access to roofing products that are durable and of good quality.

Having approximately 2,500 direct employees, Eternit operates throughout Brazil, with its administrative headquarters and showroom in São Paulo and for manufacturing plants strategically installed in the Northeast, Southeast, South and Midwest of the Country. It also has its sales affiliates, and three subsidiaries: SAMA S.A. – Minerações Associadas – the only chrysotile mining company in Latin America, and the third largest in the world; Precon Goiás Industrial Ltda. That produces fiber-cement tiles, with a manufacturing plant in the Midwest; and Tégula Soluções para Telhados Ltda., the leading company in the concrete tile segment, with six plants strategically located in the Northeast, Southeast, South and Midwest of Brazil. In addition to this, through Companhia Sulamericana de Cerâmica S.A., a joint venture with Organizações Corona S.A., the 130-year-old Colombian multinational, Eternit the company will be starting to produce bathroom chinaware products in Brazil at its multi-product unit in the state of Ceará, with production start-up planned for the first quarter of 2014.

The growth in the Company’s operations in 2012 took place organically in the fibe-cement and concrete tile markets, Eternit and Tégula maintained their leadership positions, with respective market shares of 32% and 30%. SAMA, the third-largest chrysotile mineral mining company in the world, with a market share of 15%, sold its production to Eternit’s manufacturing plants as well as other fiber-cement companies, both foreign and domestic. This company only exports its surplus production, to more than 20 countries, including India, Indonesia, Mexico, Thailand and Malaysia.
