Over the last few years Eternit’s growth has exceeded GDP growth in the building sector. Its capacity to innovate and develop differentials has put the Company on a new level, further assisted by its Structured Program for Expansion and Diversification, created at the end of 2007.

Below we cite the achievements in the first phase of the Structured Program for Expansion and Diversification:


STRUCTURED PROGRAM FOR EXPANSION AND DIVERSIFICATION

Organic Growth

Expansion to current production capacity

Achievements:

  • Expansion to fiber-cement production capacity from 650,000 tons to 1 million tons.
  • Expansion to mining capacity from 270,000 tons to 300,000 tons.
  • Expansion to concrete title manufacturing capacity from 7.2 million m2 to 10 million m2.

Diversified organic growth

Portfolio diversification with new products and segments using the production capacity of third parties, or products developed in-house.

    Achievements:

  • Entry into the metal tile segment.
  • Entry into the bathroom chinaware
    and lavatory seat segment.
  • Entry into the metal bathroom
    fittings segment.
  • Entry into the synthetic marble segment through R&D.
  • Entry into the fiber-cement segment with alternative fibers, through R&D.

Inorganic Growth

Entry into new segments through acquisitions and greenfield start-ups.

    Achievements:

  • Acquisition of Tégula Soluções para Telhados.
  • Joint venture signed with Organizações Corona S.A. (2011) provides for the building of a new bathroom chinaware manufacturing unit in the state of Ceará (under construction with operational start-up planned for 2014).
  • Unit for research, development, and production of construction materials input, to be built in the city of Manaus (ongoing-operational start-up planned for the end of 2014).

Based on the precepts of organic growth, diversified organic growth and inorganic growth, the Company is beginning the second phase of its plan, which envisages its consolidation over the long term as the most diversified construction materials manufacturer in the Country, with approximately 50% of its sales linked to diversification. The plan is being carried out by the Directorship of Development and New Business.
