Walmart develops a series of more sustainable practices and aims to lead social and environmental initiatives that directly involve employees, customers, suppliers, governments and communities. To do so, the company has created a system with eight multidisciplinary platforms: Climate and Energy, Raw Material, Zero Impact (waste management), Supply Chain, Conscientious Customers, Conscientious Employees, Logistics and Constructions. These are working groups that receive guidance and targets to carry out initiatives that meet the commitments and corporate directives related to the global pillars of Climate and Energy, More Sustainable Products and Waste Management. The actions are accompanied and their results reported through quarterly meetings with the participation of the multidisciplinary work platforms with the presence of Walmart Brasil's senior management and the Conselho Externo (External Council) which included representatives from the academic world and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in 2014.
