Sustainability Report 2015

Walmart continued with its projects to improve the efficiency of the DCs in 2014. A sorter conveyor belt system started being used in the DC in Jandira (SP) which automatically separates the products through a system of intelligent labels read by scanner. As a result, the goods are automatically sent for their destination to the loading points of the logistical transporters installed within the DCs. The sorter can handle 260,000 boxes of products per day and brought a productivity gain of more than 25% in the year.

Furthermore, another three DCs started deploying Voice Picking technology in which operators use headsets to separate orders for the stores. This leaves their hands free, helps reduce errors and increases the efficiency of their work.
